The Big Retreat at Port Ludlow
Forty-nine members (41% of the Club) marched to Port Ludlow over the weekend to partake in the 16th annual BBRC Planning Retreat. A solid cross-section of the Club attended, witnessed by the fine showing of nine Past Presidents: Dick Clarke, Don Deasy, Don Chandler, Dick Brown, Bob Moloney, Howard Johnson, Bob McKorkle, Chuck Barnes, and Sharon Edberg. New and old – and not-so-old – members were there to chime in and add their ideas for the next Rotary year and for five years out. - Brian Evison floats the idea of a new retreat venue. He has checked out Semi-ah-moo Resort, north of Bellingham. Brian said it would be more expensive than our previous retreats. Crowd seemed receptive to a change.
- Kim gets high marks for his retreat agenda and process. [Applause!]
- Chandler vents that the “board needs to diminish the number of Scooters!” [Mumble, mumble – these old crotchety past presidents … etc.!]
- Sergeant At Arms should be up before the Club each week. Rourke says that was the advice he received when he was SAA and feels it’s a good policy. [If the poor guy/gal who is SAA can take 50 weeks of a “Chorus of Boos.”]
- Do not use broadcast email willy nilly.
- Deasy most generous at Fun & Games. Deasy wondered if he could have his $8 back!
On that note, the Retreat was …
ADJOURNED!
