The Bum – Peter Powell

Jay Powers, BBRC Sergeant At Arms, became the Bailiff of the Superior Court of BBRC.

“Come all ye now and be heard. The Honorable Steve Lingenbrink presiding.” The judge, bolstered by his old, tattered law book, said, “We have a full docket. First case is Sayoko Powell vs. Peter Powell. Peter identified himself, having to do so because hardly anyone recognized him – his two-day old beard, red bandana, and spiked neck jewelry made for a good disguise. Sayoko complained: “People are confusing me with Peter. How could I be mistaken for that bum?” she asked. Attorney Rourke O’Brien spoke for Sayoko and entered evidence into the record: “On March 22, Sayoko got several emails saying ‘Hi, Peter.’ Several emails were sent to Peter (Sayoko) about the Retreat. All we’re asking is to get Sayoko’s identity back.”

Lingenbrink put on “judicial attitude” and asked Peter and Sayoko several questions, deciding that although both have December birthdays, both like sailing, and their spouses both have five-letter names (Molly and Scott), the, similarities end there. Sayoko is 5’3”; Peter 6’2”. Sayoko speaks English, French, Japanese; Peter speaks American. Sayoko is a licensed captain of a 40 ton vessel. The judge ruled in favor of Sayoko and cautioned the membership that any more emails to “Peter” will be fined.
