Eastside Literacy Scores

Ferrier, Gauthier
Alice Ferrier receives check from the BBRC’s Madeline Gauthier (R).

Community Service Committee Chairperson Madeline Gauthier presented a check for $800 to Alice Ferrier, who heads the Eastside Literacy Program, now connected with Hopelink. Alice graciously accepted the funds, explaining the money would support an ESL program for adults. “There are 40 advanced students in our civics class where they learn about volunteerism, community participation, voting, culture, and American history. The grant will allow us to provide a book called ‘American Roots.’ We are always in need of volunteers to speak. It would be great to have some of you tell our students what it means to be a Rotarian. It’s very exciting to see students go from survival to literacy.”
