Over 300 people, young and old, came together Saturday morning, October 19, to make quick work of a planting project just west of the main entrance to Marymoor Park. In one hour and twenty minutes, the hoard descended on the planting site finding new homes for trees and shrubs along the banks of the Sammamish. The sponsors, the City of Redmond and King County were ready for any eventuality and moved the BBRC crew across the river for an attack on the invasive blackberry bushes in a previously planted area. Making equally quick work of that, most of the activity was completed by 1:00 p.m, an hour ahead of schedule.
Twenty-one BBRC Rotarians, many accompanied by their families, worked efficiently and rapidly to complete another Sammamish ReLeaf project. Working the shovels, mallets and pruners were Sharon Edberg, Polly and Joe Stansell, John and Jan Martinka, Vicky and Tom Sanko, Susan Harrison, Rick McManus, Rourke O’Brien, Sayoko Powell, Tim Moriarty, Brian Evison, Steve Peters, Wendi Fischer, Bill Knoppi, Paul Martin, Ernie Hayden, Chuck Kimbrough, John Mix, Alex Rule, Cary Kopczynski, Terry Peterson and Jim Zidar.
Vicky Sanko chaired the event, under the auspices of the Preserve Planet Earth Committee, Alex Rule, Prop.
