Mortality by Daniel Feussner
Achilles, in Greek mythology, was the greatest of the Greek warriors in the Trojan War. He was the son of the sea nymph Thetis and Peleus, king of the Myrmidons of Thessaly. When he was a child his mother dipped him into the River Styx to make him immortal. The waters made him invulnerable except for the heel by which his mother held him.
To make a long story short:
Last week on Tuesday, Daniel joined MTV’s Jackass Team and ruptured his Achilles tendon playing volleyball. He had surgery at Overlake Hospital and is now immobilized for weeks. A full recovery is out at least 8-10 months.
Well, I am at home now and my wife Marcia has the pleasure to make my life as comfortable as possible. We are in the 21st century and I have high speed Internet through my wireless network at home and I am close to uploading myself somewhere. If you know me you can imagine how bored I am, of course. Currently, I work officially from home.
On the good side, I have time to catch up with about 2000 unread emails, read some books I always wanted to read, beat the hell out of my xBox and think what I will be doing when I am back. (I'll be baaack!)
I will not be at Rotary meetings for a while and ask for a leave of absence for 4-8 weeks.
