Exchange Student Report by Chris Monger
It was disappointing that no one signed up for an activity with Nacho when the sign-up sheet was routed around this past Friday. To avoid the embarrassment of telling Nacho that no one wants to spend time with him (Ever see a Chilean cry? It is not a pretty sight, let me tell you!), please review your schedule and call Pam Monger (Nacho's social coordinator) with a date and activity. Or you can email me.
Some ideas for you:
- A dinner out (he likes everything except Mexican food – not many people besides Nacho order a hamburger at a Mexican restaurant)
- A movie
- Take him shopping to a cool store you like (he has money so you are not on the hook)
- Something you enjoy doing would also work (he enjoyed a hike on Tiger Mountain with us last week)
- Dinner at your home with your family
- A drive around town
He will be going curling in a couple of weeks – is that really a sport? You will be doing him a favor. I think he is getting bored with us as we cannot entertain him every day.
I am dealing with this in a light-hearted manner, but there is a serious message involved: we have a responsibility when hosting an exchange student and need to honor it. Think about it and participate in true Rotary spirit!
Next comes brute force – choosing a volunteer panel to help spread peace and goodwill throughout the world!
