District Leadership Assembly
Three hundred plus Rotarians met at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church last Saturday for the annual District Leadership Assembly, a yearly ritual that brings together all of the newly-elected Presidents from the Districts 52 clubs (including a fine delegation from Duvall), as well as leaders taking over the reins on July 1 at the District level.
District Governor-Elect Kathy Johnson chaired the event, which featured breakout sessions for various leadership positions. John Martinka conducted two sessions for incoming treasurers, while John Mix fielded ideas from one session of Club Information Officers. The Assembly is normally scheduled for May, but this years Rotary International Convention in Osaka, Japan, conflicted with the usual second week in May program. Other BBRC members attending included Centennial President Norm Johnson, Past President Sharon Edberg, new Club Secretary Ernie Hayden, Vocational Service Director Carlene Buty and International Service Director Brian Heimbigner.
