Two Grants Awarded by Community Service
Two active organizations bringing help to people who have few alternatives were singled out for support from the BBRCs Community Service Committee. Chairperson Lynne Gauthier introduced Leslie Young, President of the Eastside Assistance League. Were an all-volunteer nonprofit group founded in 1989. We promote support for people in assisted living situations and supply victims of sexual assault a survivor kit in area hospitals. A program founded by us in 1992 now serves 14 hospitals and annually helps 1000 survivors of domestic violence. Operation School Bell is a program for providing clothing for elementary school students. This past year, over 1,950 students in 41 schools received all new clothing ... $205,000 worth of clothes. Weve helped over 10,000 kids in this program since 1992. Shelley Noble, of Bellevues Hopelink, thanked the Club for its ongoing support. Your generosity will help a couple of families. A single mom with kids fleeing domestic violence is settling in our area. This woman was a doctor in her native Mexico and is trying to get licensed here. The other recipient is a single mom wanting to get further schooling. Both will be greatly helped by your gift. |
