Friday Potpourri

StadelmanNestlerWith a welcome by President Brian, the meeting opened with introductions of Peter Stadelman, who gave the invocation and led the pledge; and Jan Nestler, who greeted Tom Bordner, Joshua Steele, Frank Young, Ron Dunlap, and Michael McIntosh. Bill Scott, recently retired member, paid a nostalgic visit.

President Evison said that nominations are open for the position of District Governor, 2006-2007. Sixteen members — all of whom have served as club president — are eligible.

SOTMLingenbrinkRotarian-Of-The-Month award, for his work on World Community Service and other continued service to the Club, went to Steve Lingenbrink, a 12-year veteran of the BBRC and the Club’s choice for President in the 2005-2006 year.

BillBrooksBill Brooks accepted his Blue Badge upon completion of the requirements to introduce himself to the club over the past year. Congratulations to Bill!

On behalf of the Preserve Planet Earth Committee Dean Pollock reported that the Committee will acquire hats for members to wear when working on Club projects, particularly those for PPE. Dean asked the membership to select from a cap or a visor to help them determine how many to order.

And, coincidentally, Ron Healey reminded the crew of the work party being assembled for the morning of Saturday April 24, at Marymoor Park. Planting of shrubs and trees continues along the Sammamish River. Friends and family members are particularly invited for this 4-hour work party.

MaryBellMary Bell is back. While she was gone, she was amply represented by the fundraising prowess of Jenny Andrews and Steve Goldfarb. “They collectively pulled in $600 to the Sergeant At Arms fund! Boy, am I impressed!

Rourke O’Brien is in the news this week. He paid $5.00 to explain his new venture. Carlene Buty has a new job: Director of Alumni Relations, at Seattle U., $2.00. Sadru Kabani’s house was featured in a local magazine, $2.00. Scott Sadler has a new position as Eastside Exec Director of the YMCA, $2.00

Skiing

Cary Kopczynski was apparently hearing rumors that the BBRC ski team was not spending time on the slopes. He said this picture should dispel those rumors that the crew spent the entire day at the Black Diamond Tavern. Can you identify these people?"
