January Board Meeting
The Board met at 7:00 a.m., January 14, at the Glendale Country Club.
Actions taken regarding membership included accepting resignations from three members. Dennis Newell, a 15-year member, told the Board he needed to focus his energy on a Rotary Club centered in his community (Kirkland). Robin Anderson resigned after a 3-month leave of absence, with no reason given. Suzanne Goff told the Board she had decided to pursue volunteer efforts in her home community.
President Shrader gave a mid-year update on his term. “Our goal was to have a net gain of five new members. We are currently showing a loss of three members. However, the pipeline shows at least eight prospects, with one new application pending.”
The Club goal of $35,400 for the Rotary Foundation — annual giving and polio eradication — has reached $32,900, with spearheading by Chuck Barnes.
The Club also participated in at least three hands-on projects: The Re-Leaf pProject on the Sammamish River, continued support for Rotary First Harvest Monthly Work Parties, and the Ethiopian trip for Polio Eradication.
The final goal for the year was to develop and implement a BBRC 5-Year Plan. Thanks to Don Deasy and his committee, the plan was implemented and approved in October.
L-R: Robin Callan, Tim Moriarty, Jenny Andrews, Norm Johnson, President Kim Shrader, Steve Lingenbrink, Bob Holert, Margie Burnett, Mike Hyodo
