Friday Potpourri

With a welcome by President Kim Shrader, the Invocation was delivered by Margie Burnett followed by the pledge to the flag. David Miller greeted six visiting Rotarians and orchestrated the introduction of several guests of Rotarians.

Jim and Sheron Givan were special guests Friday. Jim represented the BBRC as District Governor in 1993-94 and was an active member of the Club beginning in 1989. Sheron is managing the Yakima Golf and Country Club, while Jim remains active in Rotary with his pet project, the Rotary Foundation, and as a new member of the Yakima Sunrise Club.

Remember, new members over the past 24 months should be planning to attend the “Get Acquainted with Rotary” gig at Bellevue Community College, Room N201, 5:20 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., this Wednesday, January 22.

Bob Moloney is putting the finishing touches on the annual Valentine’s Dinner. He still needs hosts. Call him if you can perform as a host.

Evelyn Cogswell revealed to the membership that volunteers are being sought to serve on a committee for the Bellevue Public Schools. “Because of the budget shortfall, our district will need to cut $2.5-$3 million this year. We need input from community members, and if you’d like to serve, there is a form you’ll need to fill out. This is an umbrella committee established to monitor and have input where cuts should be made.” Contact Evelyn for more details.
