We Get Letters

Lake Heights Family YMCA recently wrote the BBRC the following:

Thank you for your gift of $3,000 to the 2003 Lake Heights Family YMCA Partners with Youth Campaign. Your investment will bring great returns in the lives of youth and families we serve. The extensive programs and services offered through Lake Heights Family YMCA would not be possible without the generous support of caring people like you.”

The Case of Peter Stadelman

You’ll recall, Peter sent an email (featured in the January 13 issue of Reveille) wanting credit for attending the movie “Catch Me if You Can.” Seems there’s a spot where a Rotary Club meeting is going on. Peter wanted a make-up for attending the movie. When he was cautioned that at least two other Rotarians should be there in order for him to get credit, he boldly replied that his wife was an Honorary Member and she went to the movie with him.

Your editor put the issue to the members. Here’s a sampling of the replies:

Margie Burnett

PASS: Give him the Creativity Award

Comments: Nice try, Peter. You do a great job of keeping up with Mix's humor. Will make sure I see the movie.

Don Deasy

Comments: Give him a make up for creativity!

John Mix

PASS: Give him the Creativity Award

Comments: Hooray, Peter, I knew you'd get an award someday. You need some Limu Moui to keep you moving!

Norm Johnson

PASS: Give him the Creativity Award

Comments: Dear Peter, there are 51 Rotary Clubs in District 5030 providing 50 opportunities a week to makeup at a real Rotary Club venue. There are also recognized activities, such as Rotary First Harvest that meets the second Saturday of each month at Pier 91, that provide additional make up opportunities. You may also receive make up credit for a BBRC Board meeting held the second Tuesday of each month at Glendale. So, come on down!! Your extended Rotary family logic is a little weak, albeit clever.

[Spoken like a former Club Secretary]

Chuck Barnes

PASS: Give him the Creativity Award

Comments: Nice try, Dr. Pete, but no "newcomer" such as yourself should be so creative. Makes the rest of us old timers look … "old"! Now if one of us had come up with this recommendation first … who knows?!

Tom Smith

PASS: Give him the Creativity Award

Comments: Hey! That's where I saw the movie, too! Does that mean I get a makeup for it as well?

By the way, I didn't see Peter there.

Bob McNulty

    YES: YES-Give him a make-up, YES-Give him TWO make-ups

Comments: My wife and I were there too, so I want credit for two make-up meetings also. Peter, what flicks are you interested in seeing next?

John Hague

    YES: YES-Give him a make-up

Steve Goldfarb

    YES: YES-Give him a make-up

Comments: I saw the same movie and cried during the Rotary scene; it was touching. Do I get a make-up? Fredda was there and I saw some guy who looks a lot like Paul Harris in the back row.

Score: 6 votes for Creativity Award; 3 votes for Give Him a Make-Up; and one vote for 2 Make-Ups.

Judges determine that Peter Stadelman should receive a Creativity Award, based on the overwhelming vote of confidence from his peers. Keep looking over your shoulder, Peter, for your award.
