Fusao KajimaThe Maestro Returns
Former President of the Bellevue Philharmonic Board of Directors and current BBRC member John Sheeran introduced what has become one of the most looked-forward-to programs of the year at the BBRC. It was the return of Fusao Kajima for another invigorating glance at the world of classical music.

Mr. Kajima is conductor and music director of the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra, long a mainstay on the Eastside. Arriving to take the helm of the organization over three years ago, great strides have been made to give the orchestra greater professionalism and the ability to perform great classical works. Kajima came to the United States when he was 16 and earned his music degree at the University of Michigan. BBRC member Lorraine Gunderson serves on the Philharmonic board, and Rotarian Wendi Fischer has helped to produce television programs about the orchestra. MORE

Giving Tree
Phil Salvatori, fresh from a visit to Poipu Beach, pleaded with members to pick up the remaining ornaments on the Christmas Giving Tree. For members who did not pick up an ornament, you might call Phil right away to see if all the ornaments are gone (Ph 425-641-6400). Please bring your presents and ornaments this coming Friday. December 14, is the very last day to bring the presents!

November Ends Foundation Month
Chuck Barnes, Chairperson of the RI Foundation Committee, closed out the month of November with a pitch to equip all those members who don’t own a copy with the “Quick Reference Guide” for the RI Foundation. He hinted that members should “read this handy pamphlet and be prepared to answer some pithy questions at some future date.” The 20-page booklet includes everything a Rotarian would ever want to know about the Foundation. And, it’s one of the duties of a Rotarian to know this information, because it’s the RI Foundation that fuels all of the great projects that lead to world peace, goodwill and understanding.
