Group Home Gets New Paint Job

Painting the carport
Frontal assault on carport at Saturday painting project

A team of dedicated BBRC members and Sammamish High students attacked a house owned by Community Homes of Bellevue on Saturday. This is the second such project undertaken by the BBRC at the request of John Therrian, owner of the facilities. They provide housing and programs for girls suffering from Downs Syndrome.

Under the leadership of Ron Healey and Steve Luplow, the crew descended on the home with paint sprayers and brushes and completed the project by 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

Each window had to be covered and taped before the application of paint. On the firing line for the BBRC were Bob McKorkle, Jim Kindsvater, Tim Moriarty, Terry Gotham, Howard Johnson, Chuck Barnes, Norm Johnson, Jenny Andrews, and Wendi Olds. Accompanying Jenny was her son Ben and his friend, Jake Hillyer.

Sammamish High Honors Students showed up in force and helped bring the project to a successful conclusion. Lending a hand were Andrew Kim, Michael Tang, Dong Youl Youn, Doan-Si Bui, Brad Kuske, James Kaing, and Shin Hee Lee.

Mr. Therrian was grateful for the assistance for this growing program. He indicated the non-profit organization is negotiating for a third home as the demand for additional services grow.
