Web Fun

(Taken from the June 9th, 2003, Web Fun, as a hysterical perspective.)

The Push

A man and his wife are awakened at 3 o’clock in the morning by a loud pounding on the front door. The man gets up and answers the door where he finds a drunken stranger, standing in a downpour, asking for a push.

“Not a chance,” says the husband. “It’s three o’clock in the morning and it’s pouring down rain!” He slams the door and returns to bed.

‘Who was that?” asks his wife.

“Just some drunken guy asking for a push,” he answers

“Did you offer to help him?” she asks.

“No, I did not! It’s three in the morning and it’s pouring down rain!”

“Well, you have a short memory,” says his wife. “Don’t you remember about three months ago when we broke down and those guys helped us? If you don’t help him, you should be ashamed of yourself.”

After pondering the lesser of two evils, the man does as he is told and gets up, dresses, and goes on into the pouring rain. He calls out into the dark, “Hello, are you still out there?”

“Yes,” came back the answer.

“Do you still need a push?” calls out the husband.

“Yes, please,” comes the reply from the dark.

“Where are you?” asks the husband.

The voice says, “I’m over here, on the swing!”
