A Photographers Life When Jim Kindsvater emailed Thursday telling us hed have to go out of town the next day on business, ye olde editor called on the former photographic crew of Gill and Hayden (Has a nice ring to it, doesnt it?) to shoot up the joint the next morning. Larry and Ernie (Has a nice ring to it, doesnt it?) and Moe got together Friday morning and turned out a highly pix-filled issue of the Reveille. Both Larry and Ernie have continued to serve in this special way for Rotary. Gill was the clubs first photographer back in 1991 when he first joined. The black-and-white photography broke new ground for the early Reveille paper newsletter. When the web expanded and color was the thing, we switched over to the new medium in December of 1998, transferring the Directory also to our website. This necessitated digital pictures, which Larry pioneered for the BBRC. After ten years of service, Larry stepped down in favor of Jim Kindsvater, who later stepped aside for Ernie Hayden, who eventually stepped aside for Jim Kindsvater again! The thing is, the treasure of having this wealth of digital talent is what makes the BBRC great! These people know what theyre doing and what to do. There are no instructions waiting for them when theyre called to perform. Oh, maybe a chewing out from Robin for some vertical shot, etc., but you get over it. So, out of mothballs comes our Photographers Alumni Association. The suggestion given them was to shoot anything you please and have fun doing it. Larry decided to investigate the kitchen and caught the cooks preparing the bacon, so he followed the process all the way to the plate. Not often do we have pictures of photographers taking pictures, but we got that, too. So, kudos to Gill and Hayden, or Hayden and Gill, for standing in for our regular guy, Jim Kindsvater. This is what makes it all worthwhile when people step forward to fill a need. Kinda rings a bell, doesnt it? Something about Service Above Self. Thanks, Gents. And be nice to Kindsvater when he returns this week!
