Rotary First Harvest Draws a Crowd
David Bobanick, Executive Director of District 5030’s highly successful Rotary First Harvest, visited the BBRC to personally thank and honor Earl Falk for his years of service to the organization. Earl has stepped down from his post as BBRC Representative to RFH and the Club is looking to fill Earl’s shoes.
David remarked that First Harvest noted its “20th anniversary this past year, where we marked 80 million pounds of fresh food collected over those two decades. We operate no warehouse, we have no equipment, but we collected 7.5 million pounds of food this past year as a broker with the growers to the food banks. The majority of our support comes from individual Rotarians and clubs.
The BBRC has been a faithful supporter for many of the club’s 17 years. RFH provides fresh produce to hungry children and seniors, both very vulnerable groups in our state. Our goal is to help maintain the health of families who are struggling to get by. Pears and apples from Yakima are the next big crops. Our goal this year it to collect 10 million pounds of food this year.”
Visiting with David was Roger Morse, the President of RFH, who also doubles as the District Secretary.
