Early Raffle Results
Thanks to the single-handed efforts of ace-raffle ticket seller Mary Bell, the Crowded House Band has forged into an early lead after four weeks of ticket sales. Mary, picking up where she left off, pooh-poohed the reports of a sluggish econom,y and has only $320 to go to match her Herculean $5,000 feat during last year’s raffle. So, Ma Bell – as she’s affectionately known – has racked up $4,680 in sales, giving the band she captains first place in the race for the gold record.
Thanks to Mary’s leadership, John DeWater’s group has quickly stepped out to a big lead, with 78% of all raffle sales, while Steve Lingenbrink’s band of bands trails with a miserable 21.16%. The fact is that Mary has nearly doubled the output of the seven bands represented by Lingenbrink combined.
Well, the summer season is over and all this laboring and hand-wringing is about to stop. With two months left in the sales season, you can expect all of these bands to begin to make some noise. The second place team is also part of the DeWater stable – the Moody Blues have banked $2,265, thanks to early sales by Jim Young ($1,250) and Tom Smith ($1,015). For the Lingenbrink bands, The Beatles have amassed a total of $1,450, to lead their division.
Complete up-to-date sales are revealed in the Raffle section of the Website.
