Serica Sydney (L) and Trisha Weathersly, with Bob Holert.

Bob Holert, Vocational Service Chair, saluted two young women who are on their way to the Girl Scouts’ highest award – The Gold Award. Trisha Weathersly and Serica Sydney are both completing the requirements for this high honor. The Gold Award is similar to an Eagle Scout badge for boys.
For her project, Trisha noted that youngsters in a daycare center didn’t receive gifts on their birthday. She put together 140 birthday baskets which were welcomed by the youngsters.
Serica’s project was in cooperation with Child Protective Services, where she put together 40 packages for children in needy families. Grace Chien, Scout Director, said that Girl Scouting is “all about girls. They achieve the highest ideals and passion for their community. We served over 4,800 girls in a ten-county area, and we have a lot of potential Rotary members in our membership! The two award winners will receive a plaque noting their achievement.
Thanks to Valoree Dowell for arranging the details for Friday’s ceremony.
