Elizabeth

One night, thinking no one is home, a burglar breaks into a house. He discovers the frightened owners in bed watching TV.

"What’s your name?" he asks the wife at gunpoint.

"E-E-Elizabeth," she replies.

"This is your lucky day," says the burglar. "I can’t shoot anyone named Elizabeth because that was my dear mother’s name." He then turns to the husband and demands, "What’s your name?"

"My name’s Harry," says the man, "but all my friends call me Elizabeth."

Exercise

exhaustedI felt like my body had gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors.

I bent, twisted, gyrated and jumped up and down. I perspired for more than an hour.

By the time I got my leotards on, the class was over.

23rd Psalm Short Version

In his beautiful book, "I Shall Not Want," Robert Ketchum tells of a Sunday

School teacher who asked her group of children if anyone could quote the entire 23rd Psalm.

A golden-haired, four-and-a-half-year-old girl was among those who raised their hands.  A bit skeptical, the teacher asked if she could really quote the entire psalm.

The little girl came to the front of the room, faced the class, made a perky little bow, and said, "The Lord is my shepherd, that's all I want."

She bowed again and went and sat down.

That may well be the greatest interpretation of the 23rd Psalm ever heard.
