Ethiopia in Pictures, Rotary at Work
After two false starts, local TV news personality Penny LeGate finally was able to clear her schedule for a very stirring presentation on what Rotarys doing to eradicate polio. In December, she was thwarted from her engagement when a storm knocked out power to Glendale; and again in February when she her work schedule suddenly was changed which put her on the air for the morning shift. Friday, Penny was successful in clearing all the hurdles and gave a wonderful presentation well worth waiting for. Ms. LeGate is a new anchor for Seattles KIRO-TV Channel 7 with 25-years in the broadcasting business. Shes received Emmy awards for writing and production. Shes involved in many local charities and told her audience that volunteering for community activities is very important. READ MORE Ernie Hayden, Secretary-to-be in just over a month, has asked all members to kindly (Ernie puts it a little more forcefully) sign up for their desired committees for the New Rotary Year. Each member should sign up for two or three committees. If you have a burning desire to serve Rotary even further, and want to chair a committee, let the Director of that area of service know. All of this work must be in place as we begin a new year in July 1, so PLEASE, GET WITH THE PROGRAM! Rotary Exchange, Golf Match, Wine & Cheese Continuing the tradition begun a year ago, the Bellevue Breakfast Club and the Rotary Club of University District will exchange presidents this Friday (we get the better of the deal!) when Nancy Keenholts-Dalton will preside over the BBRC Friday, and Brian will do the same at noon on Friday. This is all a prelude to a golf match at the Willows RunEagle Course between Redmond and Woodinville. Tee times are 2:00 and 2:30 Friday afternoon. At the end of that exercise, golfers, as well as other Rotarians, are invited to a Wine & Cheese Social at the home of Sadru Kabani, 84 Cascade Way, in Bellevue. The Social is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 that evening. Partners are welcome! If you need further information, contact Brian Evison (Ph 425-454-3106). Fridays exchange is a project of the BBRC Fellowship Committee, Peter Powell, Prop. Click here for a PDF file with information on this event.
