A Most Amazing Rotary Club
Its probably fair to say that Chuck Barnes would say the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club ranks right up there with the best of them! This is on the heels of his month-long effort to close out the clubs Annual Giving campaign for the Rotary Foundation. Chuck announced that his proposal to match whatever was given during April netted $6,500 today alone! Add it all up and the club has surpassed its goal, with at least $29,500 contributed, which is better than $250 per member. Chuck reminded everyone that HIS goal is to enlist every member in this supreme effort: No matter what you give or what you can contribute, it matters to me that every member participate in some way. With the month of May here, its time to wrap up the clubs campaign. Barnes was privileged to award a Rotary pin with four sapphires to Jim Young, who has contributed over $5,000 to the annual Fund. Jim said he began his support back when he joined Rotary with Seattle #4. He likes the matching of funds for projects worldwide. And, even if you cant participate yourself in the project, the Rotary Foundation becomes an extension of yourself and thats why its so important to participate. Chuck also announced that Curt Cummings, newly inducted member, gave Chuck a $1,000 check for his part of the fund drive. And, a note from Peter Powell said that he would match Chucks match up to $5,000. It looks like, with the response from members, that Peters offer will be consummated. So, is this some kind of great Rotary club or what!?! |
