Four fairly evenly matched skiers, and Cary Kopczynski, headed up to Crystal Mountain Ski area following the meeting on February 28th, 2003. The day was cloudy and drab with rain, but as we approached the Crystal Mountain turnoff, the rain turned to snow and made for fantastic conditions – mainly, no lift lines and new snow! The only problem was the visibility, with the upper reaches of the mountain experiencing white-out conditions.
The group got their money’s worth and more, leaving in one piece, albeit with sore mussels (and a couple of clams!). The worst fall of the day occurred upon arrival in the parking lot when Don Chandler stepped out of Cary’s Explorer and promptly landed on his backside. Fortunately, there does not appear to be any permanent damage.
