 Dean Pollock Creative [Tie Winner]

Judges
The judges – no ties.

The annual Ugly Tie Contest, skillfully emceed by John Martinka, became a Creative Tie Celebration when members gathered to applaud the winner of the fierce competition. Each table sent up one contestant and, from there, District Governor Nelson paired down the list to just seven semi-finalists: Jim Kindsvater (Mother Board Tie); Sharon Edberg (Tea Tie); Dean Pollock (Fishing Lures); Brian Heimbigner, (Goron Tie); Dale Hemphill (Past President’s Tie); Margie Burnett (Girls With Guitars); and Dick Clarke (Dick Brown’s Tie).

The membership then voted by applause for two finalists: Brian Heimbigner, outfitted with flashing Christmas lights with a theme of the coming election, and Dean Pollock, with his Fishing Lure creation titled “Got Hooked on Rotary.” Dean won the applause competition and was crowned the Creative Tie Winner, receiving a nice gift from Dick Brown and Albert Ltd.

Second Runner-Up should surely go to Dick Clarke for his obvious brown-nosing effort to win the top prize. Seven or eight pictures of Dick Brown with little vignettes such as “Suits 4U” and other blatant graphics were an effort to con Brown into crowning Clarke King. Didn’t work, but it was $40 well spent, huh, Donna?

Group
Very ugly, er, uh, creative ties.
