“Strategic Plan of the United Way,” Jon Fine, CEO, United Way. United Way has just completed a huge community assessment that is a real milestone in understanding the state of our community. A 5-year strategic plan has also been completed. Attend Friday’s meeting and then head for Semi-ah-moo for the Retreat. Carpools will leave Saturday morning for more attendees. Friday’s regular meeting is at 7:00 a.m. at Glendale Country Club.

ADMIN CORNER

Billing has gone out. Retreat this weekend. Tulips are blooming. Wind and rain is in the forecast. Grass is growing. Spring is here.

Friday Potpourri

x0404GreetersPresident Norm opened the morning with a warm greeting. He introduced Tom Purdy, who delivered the invocation, followed by the pledge.

Michael Ralph greeted five visiting Rotarians and a host of other visitors.

Dick Clarke staffed the Cashier’s table

It was April Fool’s Day and President Norm thought it’d be nice if everyone put $2 on the table to protect themselves for what might happen later in the meeting. With a guilty conscience prodding him on, Frank Young parted with another one of those “BBRC Happy Bucks,” swelling the take to $237. A mighty fine protection racket.

x0404ROTMFor his extraordinary organization talents, Jim Gordon was awarded the Rotarian of the Month plaque, leading the Program Committee to a series of fine weekly programs and filling each slot weeks in advance. A smooth running ship, we’d say. Congratulations, Jim!

Chuck Barnes reports that the Raffle Sponsor board needs more names, although the early sign-up period has been very successful. It’s all to help get the golf tourney and raffle going in great shape. If you know of other corporate groups who’d want to sponsor the club’s major fund-raising event, please contact Chuck or Steve Lingenbrink.

x0404AllenJim Allen's nasty, old Red Badge was confiscated and replaced by President Norm Johnson with a shiny, beautiful, and far more valuable Blue Badge.
