Our Man in India: Warren Hall Crain

CrainDressed in his beloved adopted country’s garb, Warren Hall Crain paid the BBRC a visit to promote his next big Rotary adventure — a National Immunization Day effort to eradicate polio in one of the world’s largest populated nations. “I have spent eleven years in India and have fallen in love with this beautiful land ... the loveliness of India.”

Warren, a member of the Emerald City Rotary Club, maintains a residence in Khajuraho, from which he spreads out his Rotary projects. Warren has been the front man for many Emerald City and District 5030 projects. During this past year, he participated in an NID exercise in India and joined Rob Rose of the Bellevue Club for a Computers for the World (C4W) adventure in Nepal. There was also a C4W project to bring computers to a school in India.

Warren Hall Crain is an amazing practicing Rotarian. He’s a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow and has 30 years of perfect Rotary attendance. He invited BBRC members to participate in the next NID-India which takes place on October 10, 2004. “This is one last immunization day for polio in India. We’re hoping we’ve stopped the disease. This tour spans the period from September 28 through October 14 and includes visits to the Taj Mahal, the temples of Khajuraho, the holy city of Varanasi and homestays with local Rotarians.

“There are other activities you can get involved in: a World Community Service project in November; and two Computers for the World missions in January and February next year. I hope you would consider joining us.”

Warren closed by giving readings from some of his previous reports from India. He spends six months a year in the country and he finds a “vibrancy that is found no other place!”
