Susan’s Swan Song

Susan Harrison, a fixture of volunteerism since her induction in September of 2000, has let the Board know of her intention to resign her membership, effective immediately. Susan captured the first (and only) Rookie of the Year award for her work during her first year in Rotary. She will continue to pursue her career in retail branding, but will move to a warmer climate. She indicated she’ll be returning often to see her mother and will look in on the BBRC.
Susan thanked the Club for the many activities they’re involved in, particularly the Rotary Homeless Youth Program. She has coordinated a monthly dinner for homeless youth for the District. John Martinka will take over this program.
Susan has been working diligently on the District Conference, developing some wonderful graphics that will help tie the event together. She hopes that many members will enjoy attending the conference in Victoria this year – ”it’s a worthwhile experience.” Susan has won two first place trophies for the best club display the last two conferences. Obviously, her talent and drive will be sorely missed.
She is also leaving her post as Chairperson of the World Community Service Committee. She announced the Committee has committed $7,000 to Rotarian and dentist Mike Hyodo to help him build a clinic in Jamaica.
Susan Harrison epitomizes the theme of this year’s Rotary outreach “Sow the seeds of love.” Her dedication to projects that count will be difficult to replace. The line begins here.
