New Member Applications Approved by Board
At the Tuesday, February 11, 2003, Board Meeting, a majority of the board approved the applications for membership from two people.
Cyril Horace Faulkner, sponsored by Phil Salvatori, is proposed to have a classification of Horticultural Distribution. He is employed by Sun Gro Distribution, Inc., in Bellevue. Cyril holds certificates in the Canadian Society of Management Accountants and is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants in the US. His occupation is Management Accountant, and his position with Sun Gro is Business Process Manager.
Cyril is a native of Sierra Leone. He is married to Vera, they have one child,and live in Bellevue. His volunteer work consists of serving bread to the needy in the Bellevue area and as Chairman of Daystar Adopt-A-Village, Inc., an organization that provides basic health care to countries affected by war or major disasters. He is a member of the choir of the Evangel Temple Church in Bellevue, enjoys cooking, reading, and listening to gospel music and jazz. His recreational activities include golf, cycling, and swimming. He is a member of the Bellevue Men’s Golf Club.

Valoree E. Dowell is presently a member of Seattle #4 Rotary Club. She has been a member there since 1997. With her recent retirement from Immunex, Valoree no longer works downtown and is seeking a change in Rotary membership. As a former Vice-President of Corporate Communications, she may do limited public relations consulting.
Valoree is married to Steve and they have two sons, Shane, 20, and Tom, 18. The family lives in Bellevue.
While at Seattle #4, Valoree was Membership Orientation Chairperson in 2001 and lists other activities through Rotary as environmental projects and youth mentoring projects. She has been nominated to the Board of the Totem Council of Girl Scouts, helped sponsor the Seattle Kids Marathon, is a past board member of the Washington Biotech/Biomed Association, a member of the Fred Hutch NW Industry Partnership, and current member of the Editorial Board of Northwest Science and Tech Magazine (UW).
Valoree lists her hobbies as cooking, gardening, and reading the classics. She likes to ski and golf, and she is a member of the Glendale Country Club, the Bellevue Club, and the Columbia Tower Club. Her sponsor is Norm Johnson; and her classification is proposed to be “Biotechnology Consultant.”
