Sammamish Career Café

Evelyn Cogswell gave a report on Sammamish High School’s Career Café, a project that brings various business and professional leaders, presenting to two lunch sessions on a particular career track.

The February topic was health care, with 40 students attending the first luncheon, followed by 33 more for the second session. Dr. Peter Stadelman, chiropractor, and Dr. Michael Hyodo, dentist, and both BBRC members, joined the panel with other health care professionals to discuss career opportunities with the students. Shannon Magnusson, coordinator for career programs at SHS, was very pleased with the student turnout, the presentation by the panel, and by the questions posed by the audience.

The next Career Café is set for Tuesday, March 11, with two sessions between 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The topic this coming month is “Careers in Business.” Evelyn and Shannon are looking for an accountant and one or two businesspersons to help round out the panel.
