Friday Potpourri

Past President Don Chandler subbed for President Goldfarb, who was off on his spring buying trip. Don introduced Polly Stansell who delivered the invocation and led the pledge to the flag.

Ernie Hayden greeted three visiting Rotarians and helped introduce a host of other guests.

Nancy Prior reminded everyone that this is the last week to register for the Club Pplanning Retreat. Find details in the email sent to all members, or contact Nancy at nancy@2alpha.com. The deadline is this Thursday.

Jay Powers, all-powerful Sergeant At Arms, approached Alan Bohling to ask about the success of Alan’s girls’ basketball team. They apparently won the championship for fifth graders. Fine was $2.00.

The ROAR Program is working, according to Powers. Rat On A Rotarian has revealed that Tim Moriarty has moved to a new venture call CNL Commercial Finance. “After 13 years I’ve moved into new challenge,” says Tim. Apparently Powers thinks the move will be successful, fining Tim for all the publicity – $5.00

One of the fun exercises now and again is “To Tell the Truth,” where a member of the Club is asked to conjure up four things about his/her life and try to stump the audience. Bob McNulty provided the real-life stumpers:

  1. While a frosh at UW, I simultaneously dated both ladies who later became my wi(f)ves – however, not at the same time, thank goodness!
  2. I had seven children before age 40.
  3. I was from a family of 7 children.
  4. My father-in-law, a physician, delivered Bonnie and Clyde’s only child.

The task for the audience was to find the false choice of the four. Three tables thought #2 was false; nine tables thought #3 was false; and only one table picked #4 as being false.

The correct FALSE answer was: #3: I’m an only child.

Each member at tables not providing the correct answer ponied up $1.00 … a few bucks for the SAA kitty.
