The Dori Monson Show!
Thanks to Laptop Reporter Mark Hough

Dori Monson, KIRO710 talk show personality, brought his show to the BBRC Friday. Dori grew up in Ballard, is a UW grad, has a wife and three daughters, and is an avid basketball player and coach. He volunteers at Children’s Hospital and Harborview and likes The Simpsons.

Dori lamented that he is now 40 years old. “I got a pedicure for my birthday and a new waffle iron. I went from a 39-year old man to a 70-year-old woman overnight!”

His topics for the morning are “Uniques and Evergreens.” Monson cited his “Uniques” as the areas in the news that interest him most. “I want my show (heard Monday through Friday, 12:00 noon-3:00 p.m. on KIRO710 AM) to be mostly entertaining, but I want to accomplish something, too. I’m interested in the political scene and want to engage my audience as well.” MORE

Preserve Planet Earth
A first ever spring planting project will occupy Rotarians on Saturday, April 13, at Marymoor Park. PPE Committee Chairperson Alex Rule said this is a continuing effort to build up the natural cover along the Sammamish River. “We need 15 to 20 Rotarians to make this a worthwhile project. Bring the kids and other family members and friends.” Alex will have more details later.

Off to Perm
Preparations are underway for a big undertaking of the World Community Service Committee of the BBRC. The Mission Trip to Perm, Russia, will take several members and over two weeks to complete. Steve Lingenbrink, Club Service I Director and spokesman for the mission, introduced the project to the BBRC. (Download a video about Perm, Russia here!) MORE

ADMIN CORNER
Next Monday is April 1. It’s no foolin’ that it’s Fourth Quarter Billing Time. Harken up, oh, ye, BBRC Disciples.

With the new quarter, another billing cycle is here. Each member will receive a bill reflecting charges incurred in the previous quarter (such as admission fees and pro-rated dues payments), plus the new Fourth Quarter Billing, which is offered in advance. A reminder that the new Club Operation Manual states that you have a 30-day window to cover your obligation before it moves into the past due stage. You may pay by three methods: 1) return your check in the envelope provided in the billing; 2) bring your check to any Friday meeting and give it to the Cashier; 3) use your credit card at the Cashier’s table to take care of your billing.

If you plan to contribute to the Rotary or BBRC Foundation, and are NOT on the Club’s Automatic Billing Program, please write a separate check to either “Rotary Foundation” or “BBRC Foundation.” If you are on the automatic billing program, pay the amount you’ve agreed to, along with your quarterly dues.

If any member would like to learn more about the Automatic Billing Program, contact either Chuck Barnes or John Mix. Revocable Pledge Forms are available at the Cashier’s table. It’s an easy way to regularly support the Foundation, and the funds will be automatically distributed according to your wishes.
