Down two full tables because of illness to members, President Goldfarb struck the bell in the hopes that everybody would be well by this coming Friday.
Kelly Dykstra delivered the invocation and led the pledge to the flag, while Jan Nestler greeted one visiting Rotarian: Manauro Tanaka from Okinawa. With the help of Sayoko Powell, Mr. Tanaka was able to take in the whole program in his native language. What did we do before Sayoko?
Sharon Edberg announced with anticipation the annual Valentine’s DineAround. “We’re expecting a wonderful time for those participating … stand by for a report.”
Cary Kopczynski kept the District Conference in the spotlight, reminding members of this very important event, being held this year in Whistler, B.C. The dates are May 3-4-5.
Susan Harrison, Chairperson of the District Display Project, asked members for any pictures they might have from events during the past year. Susan is batting 1,000% after chairing last year’s display, which garnered first place honors at the District Conference. Anyone who woud like to help should contact Susan.

A solid contingent of BBRC members attended the Valentine’s Day concert performed by the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by our conductor-friend Fusao Kajima. An evening of romantic music was emjoyed by John Hague, Chuck Barnes, Mark Hough, Wayne McCaulley, Jan Nestler, Steve Roberts, John Mix, and their respective spouses/guests.
Mike Hyodo, Chairperson of the World Community Service Committee, announced his group would meet immediately following this Friday’s regular Club meeting.
Jay Powers, BBRC Sergeant At Arms told a joke about blond greeters. Your reporter got the punch line – Eve in the Garden of Eden said, “So she would love you!” – but got caught up in the joke and missed all the lead-in. Ask Jay about it!
Wayne McCaulley and Cary Kopczynski got into a public wrangle over a dollar. Seems that Cary was fined $5 back when, but claimed he was broke and used Wayne’s $5 bill on the table. “I’ll pay ya back in the parking lot,” is what Cary told Wayne. “Not true,” said Cary. “The truth is, I slipped him $6.00 the next day.” Each was fined $2.00 for cluttering up the judicial calendar. Judge Jenny is in Hawaii.
