Friday Potpourri

Opening bell was struck by President Goldfarb, who introduced Tim Moriarty to deliver the invocation and lead the pledge to the flag. Ted Ederer greeted six visiting Rotarians and other guests of Rotarians.

John Martinka, back from his family’s pilgrimage to Czechoslovakia, brought a banner from the Prague Rotary Club and an empty glass of beer. Thanks, John!

Robin Anderson, off to one of the fastest starts as a new member, received her Blue Badge, symbol of permanent membership in the BBRC. Congratulations, Robin!

Tickets are still available for the Valentine’s Day Bellevue Philharmonic concert. For a sweetheart of an evening, call the BPO office at (425)455-4171.

Susan Harrison, BBRC representative to the Rotary Homeless Youth Foundation, invited Chuck Barnes and Daniel Feussner to the lectern to accept praises for their answering the call for two computers and software for a program at Seattle’s Capital Hill, which is aimed at getting teenagers off the streets and into training. Chuck has donated a computer and will bear the cost of upgrading, while Daniel provided all sorts of software from a firm in Redmond. Obviously, Susan was elated. There is still a need for one more computer, we believe.

Jay Powers fined Cary Kopczynski $10.00 for a check that surfaced recently which was written towards the end of his administration. Obviously, the statute of limitations has run out on the check.

Steve Lingenpen was pilloried for excessive advertising after answering a call for “more pens to be available at the Cashier’s Table.” Steve paid $5.00 for the 50 pens he scooped up and brought to the meeting. (Ed. Note: Let me tell you, those are the best pens, and the reason he has to keep refilling the box is because many of us rely on these fine pens to get us through the day. Besides, since Steve’s move to his new offices, these fine writing instruments are obsolete – but not in the minds and hearts of Rotarians)

Barnes, Harrison, Feussner
Chuck Barnes (L) and Daniel Feussner receive thanks from Susan Harrison.
