 More Suitcases for Treehouse

Groshart, Groshart, Gauthier
Craig and Carrie Groshart, with Madeline Gauthier [seated] and a lot of luggage!

Madeline Gauthier is known as Ms. Treehouse. This fine organization provides assistance to foster children, and one of their biggest needs is luggage, since they end up moving often.

Enter Craig Groshart. Craig heard the story told by Madeline several weeks ago about shopping yard sales for used luggage. She spotted a sale going on with the owner selling his possessions in preparation for a move. Lynne tried to pry a nice set of Samsonite luggage from the owner, but her price (zero) wasn’t high enough. A week or so later, she drove by the same place and the person remembered her and gave her the two Samsonite pieces. Craig really liked that story and told it to his daughter.

Enter Carrie Groshart. Engaging lady who works at Microsoft, she liked the idea of collecting used luggage for foster kids. She took the idea to her work group at Microsoft and the word spread, and she collected over 80 bags from just within her small workgroup. Carrie delivered the luggage to the meeting Friday, without Madeline’s knowledge. Craig was introduced to tell this story and invited Madeline to come forward. At this time, a troop of Rotarians appeared with the batch of luggage — some of it brand new! — put together as a gift by Carrie’s Microsoft workgroup to the kids of Treehouse. Needless to say, Madeline was surprised and pleased!

Interim President Jim Owens thought it’d be nice if you have any spare luggage around the house to bring it this coming week and let’s keep our connections with Treehouse!
