 Board Action Taken

The BBRC Board met on Tuesday, August 14, and handled several items of Club interest. The next regular meeting of the board will be Tuesday, September 18, a week later than usual, at the Glendale Country Club.

The Board regretfully accepted the resignations of two members: Megan Sweeters, immediate past treasurer, for personal reasons, and Frank Stillo. The board considered a medical leave of absence for Frank, but decided to accept his resignation. Both members have served long and well for the BBRC and will be sorely missed.

Bob McNulty, Club Service II Director (Membership), clarified the membership process. When a prospective member visits the Club for the first time, a blue card is filled out indicating an interest in joining Rotary. The card is then submitted to Steve Waltar, Membership Coordination Chairperson. When the application is submitted, Waltar’s committee (Jenny Andrews, Norm Johnson, Mark Hough) receives a formal visit from a committee member and a mini-orientation takes place. After passing this level, the application is approved by Waltar, with an okay for classification, sent on to McNulty for approval, and then to the Board. Once approved by the Board, the application is immediately published in Reveille for two consecutive issues, asking for comments or questions regarding the application. After clearing this hurdle, the new member is eligible for induction and a Red Badge. The first committee assignment for all new members is to the New Members Committee.
