The Payoff Raffle Awards Yes, its over for another year, but not before the individuals and teams who made the 2004 Raffle such a record-breaking event. Movie Producer Cecil B. DeWater hosted the mini awards ceremony, with help from an imposter, posing as Steven Spielfarb, the other movie producer. A special guest, Whoopee Goldbrick stopped in to capture the top award winner. If youre into numbers, it looks like the Raffle will net the highest amount ever. $130,000 is the nearly final preliminary amount, with over $110,000 raised by the raffle alone. Other funds came from the Golf Auction, the Golf Outing and the wonderful support of our Corporate Sponsors. Cecil B introduced the 12 most productive teams and their award category. The Best Picture Award went to the team of Rob LoBosco and Steve Goldfarb. A Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed on old reliable Mary Bell, who once again broke all existing individual sales records with $11,000 in sales. She was awarded the Golden Crystal Award, which meant she was hauled away by Whoopee Goldbrick. (The plot gets real thick about here and its difficult to report what really was going on.) Anyway, Cecil reported that these top 12 award-winning teams accounted for $50,000 in sales toward the final tally of $110,000. A masterful effort by all concerned and a little fun along the way. The funds raised this year will be set aside until next Rotary year when they will be dispersed to worthy projects throughout the community. This truly is a community-wide effort and the results will help many fine agencies complete needed projects. President-Elect Steve Lingenbrink, who was the overall general chairman of the Raffle can be proud of his team of members who produced such wonderful memories. He thanks you and the club thanks him and the community thanks everyone who participated, including all those who purchased tickets. The winner of the Volkswagen convertible was Gary Smith, a Mercer Island Rotarian and a past president of that club. The ticket was sold by Larry May (winning ticket number 31195). |
