Dick Brown has provided a whole new meaning to the art of collecting candy this Halloween season. He got wind that the makers of M&M’s candy had created a special package of pink and white M&M’s to support the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The mission of Komen Foundation is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.
Dick warned us not to eat the M&M’s until after the meeting, and invited his fellow Rotarians to offer a minimum contribution of $5 a bag, at which the bags were quickly snatched up, and over $1,700 was raised for this worthy cause. The proceeds will be sent to the Komen Foundation in Don Deasy’s name. A special thanks to Larry’s Market for their help in this endeavor and for selling them to us at their cost. Way to go, Dick Brown! |
