Norm Johnson gave us a rousing welcome, and introduced club secretary Paul Martin for the invocation and pledge. After searching high and low for Paul, he was finally discovered and revealed that it has been so long since he has offered the invocation, he almost forgot how to do it. Paul invited us to quiet our thoughts and shared the poem, “If I Had My Life To Do Over Again,” and led us in the pledge.

John Smolke introduced guests and visiting Rotarians, including Frank Young of Bellevue Rotary, who showed us his Halloween tie (and was promptly fined for it), and Jim Allen, a guest of Rourke O'Brien. Both visiting Rotarians were confident that the Seahawks would return to their winning ways this weekend.

President Norm offered a gracious “thank you” to Sadru Kabani and Sayoko Powell for all they did in promoting and hosting a wonderful Oktoberfest with the Bellevue Rotary Club on Tuesday night.

Sayoko Powell reminded everyone to RSVP regarding our anniversary dinner, to be held this year at Willows Lodge in Woodinville, on the evening of November 12th. Also, Willows lodge is offering a promotional lodging rate of $175.00 for anyone who wants to spend the night at the lodge thanks, Sayoko and Willows Lodge!
