District 5030 Cops Top Awards
Past District Governor John Jacob Gardiner has conveyed great news from the Rotary Zone Institute in Hawaii. Zone 23 (of which 5030 is a part) Leadership Awards were given in four major categories. District 5030 won three Gold awards (1st Place) and one Bronze (3rd Place).
And, Per Capita Giving to the Rotary Foundation ($206.73 First place in USA and 3rd among the 529 districts in the world. The Bronze award was for third place in the Zone for giving to the Permanent Fund of The Rotary Foundation - $54,332. While no Zone Leadership Awards were presented in the area of membership growth, District 5030 was #1 in the USA for net membership growth (8%) and #1 in the USA for new clubs (4). PDG Gardiner gave special thanks to Annual Program Giving Chair Jim Owens and Rotary Foundation Chair PDG Stan Dickison for their leadership in The Rotary Foundation campaign; to Membership Czar Howard Stirk; and to PDG Duane Ruud, who as chair of the district club extension committee with PDG Gene Tonnemaker, led the initiatives that created four new Rotary clubs including the Covington Rotary Club, the largest chartered club (70) in Rotary history. Finally, only 10 of 529 districts worldwide (2%) met ALL of President Jonathan Majiyagbe's Presidential Citation Categories in ALL district clubs. District 5030 was one of the ten districts!
