Reclassification Talk: Tom Helbling

HelblingSeventeen-year-member Tom Helbling was called upon to give his Reclassification talk, signaling an end to a long career in specialized work to a new beginning as an entrepreneur. “My last classification talk was 1987, when I joined the BBRC. I spent 36 years in the Nuclear Fuels industry and took early retirement last year.” Tom often traveled to the Far East on behalf of his work, especially to Taiwan. Despite these long trips, Tom kept up his attendance.

Today, Tom has devised a program that helps people organize all of the aspects of a family’s estate. He calls it “Peace of Mind Estate Planning.” Bringing all of the assets, income information, legal documents and work of various advisors into one place is the goal of this endeavor. “Once all of the work is completed, the final product gives ‘peace of mind’ that all of the estate documents are in one place in case of need.”

Tom’s wife Judy has had a long career as a teacher at Bellevue Christian. Daughter Heidi and son Mark are grown and finishing their higher education. “Rotary has been a blessing in my life,” says Tom. And, the club can say that Mr. Helbling has been an active member in many ways, a willing worker for many years.
