Friday Potpourri
Yes, it did feel like fall, as noted by President Norm Johnson. “Did you turn your furnace on while finding spiders in your bathtub? A sure sign of fall!” Norm introduced Alan Pratt for the Invocation and Pledge. John Martinka greeted visiting Rotarian Tony Booth from Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Tony had laryngitis, so his wife Barbara did the talkin’. Martinka’s theme was for visitors to relate football and campus memorable events. Before the urge was controlled, several members popped up to add their best memories. Frank Young added his $100 worth. A sad farewell to Brian Heimbigner who has accepted a new job as a Merger & Acquisition Specialist in Atlanta. Brian’s easygoing demeanor and willingness to work overtime on special projects will be missed. He promised to keep in touch and get involved with Rotary on Peachtree Street. Sergeant Jenny needed just one minute to dispose of Rourke O’Brien, who was fined $5.00 for something to do with Reddi-Whip. Frank Young started to pontificate but decided to forego the opportunity, saying he was having lunch with an old friend who was now the president of San Francisco Rotary #2. For that, he paid $100. This week, President Norm will take a brief vacation and has tapped Past President Kim Shrader to fill in as president. If you have need for time on this Friday’s program, contact Kim. |
