THIS WEEK

This Week marks the culmination of another Rotary Year — not just any Rotary Year, but the once-in-a-100-years commemoration of Rotary International’s founding. With work yet to do, the BBRC enters its 20th year by celebrating another Rotating the Wheels. This promises to be the finest ever, with over 120 members and guests arriving at the Mercer Island Beach Club, 8326 Avalon Drive, Mercer Island. Complete directions to the site are available on the BBRC website.

THERE WILL BE NO FRIDAY MORNING MEETING AT GLENDALE. Meeting’s resume next week with the first meeting of the new year, Friday, July 1, 7:00 a.m at Glendale.

ADMIN CORNER

The old Mix Chassis is undergoing some preliminaries to a grand surgery scheduled for Monday, July 11. An arthritic knee got the best of your Club Administrator and will be replaced that day. Just plug and play, right?!

A beautiful spring morning and President Norm greeted all Rotarians. Before anything could happen, former member Wally Mahoney, bedecked in his Rotary T-Shirt from his new club in Riverhead, Lon GUYland, briefly took over the meeting, spreading words of good cheer to all his old friends. Wally and his wife Bernadette were visiting son Jim in Kenmore. Bernadette is shopping for a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a breed we didn’t know existed. Whatever, it was great see the smiling face of Wally Mahoney. Remember to drop in the next time you’re in Lon GUYland.

Norm, the short timer, introduced Alan Forney for the invocation and pledge. Carlos Aragon greeted three visiting Rotarians, including Roger Morse of Kent; Stan Foster of Seattle #4; and the aforementioned Wally Mahoney of Riverhead, LI.

Three new members have completed the requirements for their permanent Blue Badge. Rodd Kippen, Alan Forney, and Mike Ralph traded in their Red Badges for the Blue ones and a round of applause from the crowd.

Don Deasy and Don Chandler, our intrepid Rotary Foundation leaders, called on Sadru Kabani to award him his first Sapphire pin. Deasy also called attention to Annual Giving Pledge Forms on the table and asked that members fill out their wishes for the 2005-2006 Rotary year.
