Raffle Update

President-Elect Norm Johnson, whose responsibility is pulling off a successful raffle, observed that “most of us took August off, and now that everybody’s cleared their vacation, it’s time to get on the Raffle track.”
Kevin Jewell’s weekly Raffle Report (see Raffle-Members Only under Raffle 2003!) shows a marked increase in turn-ins. About $13,000 in ew sales were racked up by BBRC salespersons. Leading the pack from the get-go is the Wonder Woman of Ticket Sales, Mary Bell, who now has exceeded her record-breaking $5,000 performance last year, turning in a total of $5,930 Friday! It’s no secret her band, the Crowed House, is way out front of the competition. With sales by Dick Brown and Brian Evison, the “House” has $6,810 in sales. John DeWater’s musical groups have each come alive, with the Sopranos, the Newbie Brothers and the Moody Blues each cracking the $2,000 level. DeWater’s bunch accounted for $18,134 in sales, or 71% of the total.
On the other side of the battle, Steve Lingenbrink’s gang turned in a little shy of $5,000 and now can claim $7,155 collected, which is 27.29% of the total. The Beatles, led by the Irishman Rourke O’Brien, accounts for $2,270 of the total.
In the exclusive $1,000 club you’ll find Rotarians Mary Bell, Norm Johnson, Don Deasy, Kim Shrader, Jim Young, Tom Smith, Kevin Jewell, Rick Klobucher and Howard Johnson.
So, after Week Five of the Battle of the Bands, the BBRC Raffle has banked $25,289, a good start toward the goal of upwards of $100,000.
