New Members Inducted

The New Member Group grows by two with the addition of Jeanne Thorsen and Polly Stansell.

Polly, whose classification is “Education-Online Learning,” was initiated to the BBRC as a speaker back in December. Her sponsor, Rourke O’Brien, said that Polly has been an elementary school teacher for five years and has worked for Life Span and Edmark. Polly’s present position is Chief Development Officer of Reality Based Learning Company, headquartered in Redmond. The company offers schools an online resource of various products through their website. Polly is in charge of content development. Polly is married to Joe and they have two sons, Will and Sam. She enjoys cooking, wine tasting, and youth sports. Her recreational activities include skiing, golfing, bicycling, hiking, and traveling.

Jeanne Thorsen is Executive Director of the King County Library System Foundation. Her classification is “Libraries-Fund Development.” Her membership is sponsored by Jane Kuechle. “Jeanne has been working in libraries since she was 16 years old,” said Jane by way of introduction. She’s been an International District Rotary Club member for five years. When the King County Library System moved its headquarters to Issaquah. Jeanne began looking for a Rotary Club that was more convenient to her work. In steps the BBRC!” Jeanne is married to Tom Mayer and they have two children. The family lives in Edmonds. Jeanne’s previous Rotary experience included being newsletter editor and Scholarship Committee chairperson. She has a full and remarkable resume, highlighting a life of work in and for the community.
