The Rotary Foundation Update Past District Governor John Rasmussen, one of the best presenters in District 5030, gave an update about his passion, The Rotary Foundation. John is twenty-one times a Paul Harris Fellow, is a Benefactor, and has been in Rotary 26 years. He has held many positions in Rotary International, and he is currently a member of the North Seattle Rotary Club.
“It’s always a pleasure to visit one of the premier Rotary Clubs in the District. I’m speaking about the BBRC. You do things right! Today, Rotary has a presence in 160 countries with 30,000 clubs … and they meet weekly. Each week we see our friends where we meet because we believe in the purposes and ideals of Rotary.” MORE

Valentine Dine Around Sharon Edberg gave details of the Annual Valentine Dine Around, set for Saturday, February 16. Sharon asks all members to “check with your spouse or partner and make a commitment to join in this premier social occasion.” You can choose to come to dinner or be a host. In either case, you will help fill out the menu and share in the good times. Sign-ups begin this week.
Seattle #4 Extends Special Invitation A special program will bring together Rotarians throughout District 5030 for a joint potluck dinner on Thursday, February 7, 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Blodell Hall, St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, 1245 10th Ave. E., Seattle (Capital Hill).
A program focused on the U.S. Desmond Tutu Peace Foundation will be presented by its president, the Very Reverend Robert Taylor, Dean of St. Mark's, and Seattle Rotarian Dr. Constance Rice, the Foundation's Executive Director.
Archbishop Tutu won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985. A man of immense moral authority, Archbishop Desmond Tutu has been one of the leading figures in the fight against apartheid in South Africa.
All participants for the event will bring their own beverage, and dish assignments are based on first letter of the last name:

THIS WEEK Jamie Moyer, one of the premier pitchers in the major leagues, will appear to give his first-hand account of the magic 2001 season and look ahead to 2002. Moyer, a mainstay on the Mariner staff, is known for his expert pitching and his involvement in the community. Don’t miss this great program. Bring a guest. Breakfast begins at 7:00 this Friday morning, followed by the regular weekly meeting at 7:30 and the program at 8:00. It all happens at the Glendale Country Club.
ADMIN CORNER Third quarter billing has gone out. A reminder that you can arrange for quarterly billing of your Rotary Foundation pledge by filling out a pledge form, available at the cashier’s table. This method allows you to charge whatever figure you want and have it billed on a regular basis. The Treasurer captures each payment and makes sure it gets sent off to RI in Evanston. Just another superior service of your BBRC administration!
