Curtis Abbott, an outstanding athlete and student at Eastside Catholic High School, was honored as a Student of the Month for November. His principal and parents were in attendance.
Coming off a 4-point GPA, Curtis has concentrated on Community Service activities. He has served at the Meydenbauer Rehab Center in Bellevue, where he described a recent day where he was assigned to an elderly lady. The woman suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. After about an hour of talking with the lady, she told him how lonely she was. Before he knew it, he’d spent the rest of day with her and later learned how much his effort had meant to her. “The experience changed my life. I remain committed to helping the community in any way I can. Because of these experiences, I believe in myself.” Curtis has also worked projects for Habitat for Humanity and at Children’s Hospital.
Curtis has an eye for attending either Santa Clara or the UW and has all the qualifications to be a future Rotarian. Thanks to Larry May #2 for his presentation.
