November is Foundation Month

Chuck Barnes, Rotary Foundation Committee Chairperson, rose to excitedly tell his audience that “November is Foundation Month.” The purpose of this special time is to get all members involved and participating in Rotary’s annual fund. “Our immediate goal is to enroll each of our members who are not in the program to become a Sustaining Member, which calls for a commitment of $100 per year. You can designate the treasurer to add a contribution to your quarterly dues statement; that’s a painless way to reach your goal.”

Barnes noted that many BBRC members were already Paul Harris Fellows, which indicates that they have contributed at least $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. The Club is now recognizing a Multiple Paul Harris contribution, which earns the Rotarian a sapphire pin. Because of his faithful commitment to the Foundation program, Norm Johnson was recognized as the Club’s newest holder of a sapphire – meaning he has contributed at least $2,000 to the Foundation.

“This year’s goal is $150 per person,” said Barnes. “This would boost the Club’s annual donation to over $17,000. Your donations go to fund extraordinary and meaningful programs,” Chuck exclaimed. We will all hear more about the Rotary Foundation and, particularly, the workings of the Permanent Fund.
