Chuck Barnes got a jump on November by taking a moment to explain the Rotary International Foundation. November is Rotary Foundation month. “For those new to Rotary, you may not know about the Rotary Foundation. It supports programs we sponsor around the world, humanitarian programs and educational grants (Ambassadorial Scholarships & GSE). These are funded through annual giving, the Paul Harris Fellowship. There is also the Permanent Fund (Benefactors), and these are major gifts that go into an endowment. Thirteen BBRC members have been benefactors over the years, and eight of those are still active.”
The BBRC Foundation history shows 243 members have become Paul Harris fellows or are in the sustaining program since the Club’s inception in 1985.
Over $212,000 has been donated during the last 15 years.
Barnes emphasized the goal is to get 100% participation in the program – $100 from every member per year. You can authorize payment on quarterly billing. A total of 20 current members are using this method in order to insure their participation in this worthwhile program.
Chuck then closed his part of the morning program by bestowing Paul Harris Fellow certificates on three persons:
Doug Cameron received his first certificate when the Club was but a year old. It was presented to him in parts and contained in a sack. Now, we’re getting around to presenting a framed certificate to Doug Cameron!
Doug’s second Paul Harris Fellow was bestowed on his wife, Connie, who was there to accept.
Bob Moloney joined the happy threesome with his Paul Harris fellow, dedicated to his wife, Esther.
Chuck Barnes (R) presents Paul Harris certificates to (L to R) Bob Moloney, for his wife, Esther; Doug Cameron; and Doug Cameron’s wife, Connie.
