NO REGULAR MEETING AT GLENDALE THIS WEEK!
Head on out to Mt. Si for the BBRC 10th Annual Golf Outing. This is a fund raiser for the BBRC raffle, with the proceeds purchasing the prizes and covering expenses for the club raffle. Registration is at 7:00 a.m., with a continental breakfast set prior to the scramble shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. All Rotarians can join the golfers anytime during the morning (counts as a make-up), plus enjoy a barbecue lunch at 1:30 pm, when awards for the Outing will be given. Beautiful weather assured by Dick Brown.

The Friday Program:
Seafair!

x0704Wojick1Rourke O’Brien introduced our speaker, Beth Wojick, President/CEO of Seafair. Beth is a Seattle Four Rotarian and visit lots of clubs; she said we are the best club she has ever been to!

Seafair actually starts July 2nd and runs through the summer. Most people think of Seafair and think of the hydros, the Blue Angels, the Torchlight Parade and maybe the Milk Carton Derby. But, Seafair is much more! There are over 40 events that are a part of Seafair.

x0704SeafairLogoSeafair began in the 1950’s with the hydros. Today, it requires 5000 volunteers and 10-12 year-round staff. The big goal of Seafair is to create something for everyone. Five years ago Seafair looked at adding a new event that would fit with the mission, “To connect and celebrate the community spirit of the Puget Sound.” It was important for Seafair to look at their business plan and make sure the new event wouldn’t upset their core business. With endurance sports growing in interest and participation, a marathon seemed like a good idea. This year, the new event is finally being added. The Virginia Mason Team Medical Marathon will be held July 10th to benefit cancer research.

On the Calendar

Next Friday, July 8th, there will be no morning meeting!
It’s the Annual Golf Outing at Mt. Si.
This is exciting because the golf tournament is what allows us to purchase the car for our raffle. Even if you are not golfing, come for fellowship and a BBQ lunch at 1:30. Dick Brown has guaranteed the weather.

• • •

Rotary First Harvest is the second Saturday of every month.
That means Saturday, July 9th. Howard Johnson has asked that every BBRC member commit to doing at least one Saturday this year.

• • •

A private party and tour of the newly opened Bellevue Art Museum!
We will be joining several Eastside Rotary Clubs at BAM on July 12th, from 6:00-9:30pm. The event is $25 per person for food and drink. The good time is free!

• • •

The BBRC is heading out to Doo-val on
Thursday, July 21st for a BBQ at Jasper’s.
If you have met any of the Doo-val club members, you know they give us a run-for-the-money on the crazy/fun quotient. This casual, fun event starts at 5:30pm and is $12 per person.

• • •

New Member Mixer (But EVERYONE is Welcome!)
This event will take place at Peter Powell’s for Seafair! There will be boats to take people out on the water, food and entertainment. Well, there might not be scheduled entertainment, but you can count on at least a few people to be entertaining.
