ROAR1

THIS WEEK

One of the morning’s great events: the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club’s annual Holiday Breakfast. A roomful of energy-packed kids waiting to see Santa and pick up a gift. An even larger roomful of parents watching all this commotion with beaming smiles. A buffet breakfast that’s out of this world. Holiday songs and entertainment. Don’t miss the annual Christmas Breakfast this Friday, December 17, at 7:00 a.m. at the Glendale Country Club. Remember, guests and members are to park in the upper parking lot. See you there!

ADMIN CORNER

At the end of the Christmas Breakfast, the BBRC’s calendar year operations will come to a close. There are no more meetings scheduled in December, because of the coming Christmas and New Year holidays. Meetings resume on January 7th with an off-site meeting at Sammamish High School. (Glendale is closed through January 13).

With the end of the quarter comes a new billing period, the 3rd, which begins January 1. For those who have not yet covered your obligations from the 2nd Quarter, the Treasurer would appreciate a remittance prior to January 1. Mail your check to BBRC, PO Box 3003, Bellevue WA 98009-3003. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

New Members Inducted: Giner & Allen

NewMembersThe BBRC membership swelled to 114 with two new members inducted on Friday, December 10. Hans Giner, sponsored by Steve Goldfarb, was a BBRC member in the early 90s. He has eturned to the Seattle area after being posted overseas for seven years. Hans was assigned “Satellite Communications” as his classification. He is managing partner for a firm headquartered in Luxembourg, Aniara Communications. Hans is married to Catherine, and they have seven children, two of whom are at home.

Rourke O’Brien introduced Jim Allen, who joins the club with the classification “Financial Life Planning.” Jim is the senior partner of Allen Capital Management and Planning, LLC. When searching for a Rotary Club to join, Jim was steered to the BBRC by his friend, Robert Arnold, a Seattle #4 member. Mr. Arnold attended Friday’s induction ceremony. Jim is married to Tina, and they have three grown children, including 19-year-old Matthew, who is serving in the U.S. Army in Germany.

President Norm orchestrated the balance of the induction, informing the two new members they were joining the world’s largest service organization with 1.2 million members and 32,000 clubs. “You’ll be making friends for a lifetime through your membership. Your time, resources, and talents will make this a better organization. Being inducted today is a really significant event.”

Hans and Jim received their Rotary pins, the Red Badge and other membership paraphernalia. They also received a standing ovation as the newest members of the BBRC.
